ALZHEIMER'S WALK FOR MEMORIES

in Blog
Hits: 2879

January is Alzheimer's awareness month.

Local Alzheimer's Society's across Canada have organized Walk for Memories this January. Funds raised through the Walk's support essential programs and services such as day programs, caregiver support groups and family counseling as well as many other programs and services. Even though there is no cure for the disease and no single treatment that can prevent Alzheimer's, your support of the walk by donating funds help all of those living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

The CTV Canada am show will be airing a comprehensive series on Alzheimer's daily from January 19 - 22. The shows will be exploring the medical, social and personal perspective of this fatal disease including the symptoms, treatments, potential cures, the high cost of care and the need for a national policy. When one considers that this fatal, progressive and degenerative disease is the most common form (over 64%) of all dementia in Canada, finding the cause, treatment and care of dementia is imperative.

To learn more about this disease and how you can help, please contact your local, provincial or national Alzheimer Society. For more information on the Walk for Memories in your community, please go to the web site www.walkformemories.ca. Donations can be made on-line and tax receipts will be issued.
